The Story

A new, flexible, and simple role-playing game, Bree-YARC (Yet Another RetroClone) is a love song to 3rd edition D&D, seen through a lens where BX was used as the chassis for the game, rather than AD&D. This quickstart ruleset includes four human ancestries (cleric, fighter, magic-user, and thief), skills, Knacks, and basic rules. It brings the customization of newer games combined with the simplicity and ease of play of older games.

The emphasis on this system is on exploration and discovery, and not combat; characters are rewarded mechanically for exploring, and downtime activities are incorporated into leveling requirements, slowing down the pace of play and encouraging troupe-style play where each player includes a stable of a main PC and multiple retainers. XP requirements have been flattened out, to allow easy multi-classing.
